YOUR DJs FOR THE WEEKEND

A’lan Abruzzo (he/him)

loves dancing. A'lan loves music. He considers DJing for fusion a privilege, joy and self-expression. His fusion DJ acumen originated from his early training at swing/blues venues and grew as he became the first music coordinator at Shades in San Francisco. He broke onto the national fusion scene at the Portland Fusion Exchange and since then he's played at SDFX, LVFX, SFFX, DFX, SFFX, MFX, Recess, Seattle Fusion Festival, Albuquerque Fusion Experiment, City in Motion, Emerald City Blues, Mile High Blues, and BAmF, and Hi-Fi. He's looking forward to sharing his love sounds with you and move you into fusion bliss..

Emory Roehrkasse (she/they)

Emory first embarked on their partner dance journey in 2012, and since then they have taught, emceed, competed, organized, DJed, and performed as a lead and follow in Lindy Hop, Blues, Ballroom, Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, and Fusion dance, all locally and many nationally.  They co-founded their university swing dance club in 2014, co-founded Fort Collins Swing Dance in 2018, and are now an influential member of the state-wide Colorado dance scene, working in multiple capacities with 15 different Colorado partner dance organizations since their arrival in 2016. They are professionally certified in 13 Ballroom dances through Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and are studying numerous other styles in addition to their ten years of Lindy Hop, Blues, and Fusion. Everyone deserves unbridled self-expression in the present moment, and Emory does all of this so all folk they encounter can look and feel great while clowning around, solo or partnered. Save Emory a dance, you’ll be glad you did!

Angie Huang (she/her)

Cannot be contained

Ben LaCara (he/him)

has been dancing and DJing fusion for 14 years. He’s started a weekly venue in a new city and helped run 3 different recurring events. He knows the value of music being both accessible AND interesting and strives for both in all his sets. He's excited to connect with the space, the music and with all of you.

Heidi Fite (she/her)

One of our wondrous instructors

This weekend, you can count on her set to put some serious 'boom boom boom' and 'aw haw haw haw' in your dancing.

Ian Carberry (he/him)

Jenny Sowden (she/her)

"I know when you DJ I'll go on a journey and be taken care of on the way" - Shira

Paul Loschak (he/him)

Paul Loschak (known as "DJ Loveschak" at weekly Boston dances) has been dancing and DJing the blues for years. Paul regularly DJs at Boston blues dance venues and has also DJ'd at events, exchanges, and local weekly dances across North America and Europe. His collection of tunes is both broad and deep, spanning many genres and many blues dances. His library is jam packed with musically inspiring tunes for sparking dancers' creativity and encouraging leads and follows to collaborate in each dance. Paul is excited to be a part of the DanceOutLoud musical team this year!

Steven Watkins (he/him)

"What's in a name?" Well, Steven R. Watkins, a.k.a. Dr. Feelgood originally hails from NYC but is proud to have listed Oakland, CA as home for 17 years though recently life stuff has him back east, in Raleigh, N.C. Steven R. started dancing in 1998, and is honored to have begun his Blues DJing career at his other adoptive home – St. Louis’ Cheap Thrills 2004. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2005, your Dr. Feelgood has been thrilled to be spreading his love for the Blues with a warm mixture of smooth, gritty, sultry, feelin' good-in-your-bones music.

Sarah Elise (they&she)

started DJing almost as soon as they started dancing, falling fast and hard for the Blues. She was a regular fixture behind the DJ booth at Boston’s weekly dances for more than 5 years, and can now be seen inspiring and challenging dancers at venues around the Bay Area. She has brought her playful, groovy style all over the country to regional and national blues events, including Mean Old Blues, Blues Muse, Rose City Blues, Mile High Blues, Steel City Blues, Greenville’s Winter Blues, Nocturne Blues, Champagne and Roses, Albany Lindy and Blues, and Boston’s own Sweet Molasses Blues. Sarah Elise knows how to bring the party, and they can’t wait to see you shakin’ that thing out on the floor!
