Ben O’Neal (he/him)

Ben O’Neal has been partner dancing for 15 years. While starting in ballroom, he quickly found social dances like salsa and west coast swing to devote the majority of his time. He became obsessed with the learning and teaching process of wcs and really let it engulf his dance life. Through this process he found that he could implement other dances into his wcs, unknowingly to him, starting his fusion journey. It wasn't until he found fusion properly that he stopped calling himself a wcs dancer and realized all he’s ever wanted to do was dance fusion. After years of learning the rights and wrongs of dance, fusion gave him an open ended canvas to explore and create. He still loves to pull from his past dance experiences but now prefers exploring the boundless creativity fusion offers.

Bruce "Mui" Ghent (he/him)

has spent the last 40+ years as a multifaceted performing artist, composer, chopreographer and educator that has traversed the classical contemporary dance world the Taiko world and somewhere either in between or beyond. As a classically trained dancer who received his degree in Modern Dance & Choreography from the California Institute of the Arts, he has worked and performed with the likes of MacArthur “Genius” Recipient and Tony Award winning choreographer, Bill T. Jones (Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Co.) with whom he danced with at the Brookly Academy of Music Opera House for the premiere of "Uncle Tom's Cabin/The Promise Land". He has also had the honor of working with Robert Moses’ KIN Dance Company, GeorgeCoates Performance Works, Berkeley Repertory Theater Company, Co'Motion Dance Theater and the Redwood Empire Ballet Company. As a martial arts practitioner, his studeis included tutelage under the renowned Kung Fu Master Kam Yuen (Technical Advisor for the TV show, "Kung Fu" w/David Carradine) and National TKD Champion and Filipino Martial Arts Guru, Roland Ferrer.

Emily Webb (she/her)

In 1996 Emily Webb began her love affair with partner dance.  Through the years Emily has studied Tango, Swing, Salsa, Blues, and Fusion dance with some of the top instructors in the world.  Today Tango and Fusion remain Emily's greatest dance loves.

Thousands of students across the US and Canada have benefited from Emily's dynamic and interactive teaching style.  Through her years of teaching experience Emily has learned to make even the most complex movements simple and build them from the ground up.  This means you will not only look good while you dance, but feel great to your partners too!

Emory Roehrkasse (she/they)

is a dynamic and compassionate dance instructor known for their playful, empowering approach to teaching. With over a decade of professional dance experience and a background in swimming instruction, group fitness, personal training, and somatics, Emory brings a deep, body-aware perspective to every class. Specializing in Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, West Coast Swing, and Fusion, their teaching draws on a rich foundation in opera, musical theatre, and years of cross-disciplinary coaching to help dancers of all levels find connection, confidence, and joy. Emory is active both locally and nationally—teaching, DJing, and emceeing at festivals while cultivating inclusive, beginner-friendly spaces through group classes and private lessons in Denver. Their classes center play, musicality, and personal expression, inviting students to grow through curiosity and connection.

Heidi Fite (she/her)

Heidi began dancing and teaching Blues dancing in St. Louis in 1999 and has been dancing, teaching and performing ever since. An early promoter of Blues dancing, she founded the first national Blues dance workshop (Cheap Thrills), which later transformed into the nation's largest Blues dance competition weekend (bluesSHOUT!).

Heidi continues to travel the world teaching Blues dance as a living tradition, with a rich history and an exciting future. From local classes to international workshops and historical research and documentation of the dance, she is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Blues dancing.

Her classes are inspiring and challenging, but Heidi's focus on the underlying principles and fundamentals of the dance allows her to break down the most difficult concepts and moves, making them easy to understand and incorporate. Heidi is able to communicate and instill in her students a love of dance and a dedication to the learning process. Most importantly, her classes will put some serious 'boom boom boom' and 'aw haw haw haw' in your dancing.

Jamie-Lynn Figure (she/her)

first experienced partner dance in 1994 in the form of ice dancing. While progressing through competitive circles, she cross-trained with ballet, jazz, modern, and cardio dance classes. In 2005 she put on her first pair of ballroom shoes; in 2006 she fell in love with swing and blues. Addicted to new dancing experiences, she added Argentine tango to her repertoire in 2007. Basically, she loves to dance any way she can. Students of her weekly blues, swing, and connection lessons feel that their creativity, expressivity, and knowledge of fundamental concepts are challenged and expanded during each of her lessons. She's happy to have been a part of The Las Vegas Fusion Exchange and The Denver Fusion Exchange.

Jeannie Lin (she/her)

is an internationally recognized dance instructor based in Los Angeles who has extensive movement knowledge rooted in over 30 different dance disciplines including gymnastics, ballet, competitive ballroom & latin, argentine tango, modern dance, hustle, west coast swing, and salsa.  She graduated with high honors at the Ballroom Dance Teacher’s College where she started developing her unique and effective style for teaching partner dancing.  Her career has led her to teach impactful workshops all over the globe in 30+ cities across 12 countries, throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and the UK.

As an educator, she is loved for her warm, charismatic presence and her ability to translate the profound depth and detail to even the most simple fundamental movements.  Her fluency in a vast array of dance styles allow her to quickly pinpoint why something is or isn’t working.

In Los Angeles, she co-founded the first micro-fusion venue, Tiny Dancers, and currently co-organizes for Angel City Fusion.  She also founded a hand-woven clothing line called DanceWeaver, where she designs one-of-a-kind clothing for dancers and movement artists.

John Vigil (he/him)

is a seasoned Blues dance instructor and All-Star level dance competitor from Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a passion for Blues, Latin, Fusion, Swing, and beyond. He has taught locally and abroad since 2011, inspiring dancers to immerse themselves in the music, move with greater self-awareness, and cultivate an authentic connection with themselves and their partners.

John runs a fun, lighthearted classroom, and enjoys working with beginner dancers, instructors, and everyone in-between. His classes will challenge you to strengthen your musicality, your body awareness, your quality of movement, and most importantly, push you to express the music authentically.

Shaheed Qaasim (he/him)

a Los Angeles-based West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, blues, and fusion dance teacher, DJ, choreographer, competitor, and enthusiastic student. I’ve been partner dancing since 2004, and my journey has taken me across the country teaching, learning, and building community through dance.

Fusion holds a special place in my heart, it invites us to move beyond genre and instead connect through intention, creativity, and presence. As a teacher, I focus on helping students develop a deep understanding of connection and movement, and I’m passionate about guiding people toward finding their own voice on the dance floor. My goal is always to help dancers show up authentically, joyfully, and respectfully; with themselves, their partners, and their communities.

I care deeply about community building because I believe partner dancing is more than artistic expression, it’s a powerful tool for connection and healing. That’s why I encourage organizers and dancers alike to move with purpose, awareness, and care for the spaces we’re co-creating.

I’m constantly reconnecting with my own love of dance and expanding my movement vocabulary through styles like Kizomba, Bachata, and hip-hop. I’m honored to be part of City in Motion, an event that reflects the diversity, depth, and joy of fusion. Let’s move together.

Steve Yang (he/him)

Steve has been a kungfu practitioner for 23 years, and a partner dancer for 22 years. He understands that they use the same concepts of connection, frame, and tone, but to opposite ends. As such, he feels they complement and supplement each other well. Steve studied Northern Shaolin, Wushu, TaijiQuan, BaguaZhang, and XingyiQuan in China for 5 years. He won first place in the Beijing Traditional Kungfu Competition in 2004.

blues Musicality: Beyond the Basics
Heidi Fite & john vigil

Ready to move beyond the basics and really dance the music? In this class, we’ll explore how to make your dancing more musical, creative, and collaborative. You’ll learn how to go beyond just the basic rhythm, play with contrast, and create variations that bring your dancing to life. We’ll dive into call and response, both with the music and with your partner, so you can take turns leading, following, and creating something fresh together. If you’ve ever felt stuck doing the same moves over and over, this class will help you break out of that loop and find new ways to express yourself on the dance floor.

Grounded in the Blues
john vigil & Heidi Fite

This beginner-friendly class is designed to give you the fundamental tools of blues dance — from body-led connection to a variety of basic blues moves — so you can bring confidence and fun to your dance. We’ll focus on the good stuff: close embrace that feels great for both people, leading with your body, keeping the rhythm and pulse, and adding some sweet lag into your movement. You’ll also learn blues moves/dances that translate seamlessly into your fusion dancing. Whether you’re brand new to blues or just want to build a stronger foundation, this class will help you build richer, more connected social dances.
